A Memory of Boston

There was the time I lived in Central Square and a homeless man

said as I passed briskly,

“There’s a guy who thinks the world owes him something”

And ever since I have been thinking about what he meant

Then I remember that

He was a man living and dying

on a street

If I were him I’d want to pierce the thin skin of the occasional

sheltered boy who passed

as well.
